Way back in 1926 a group of youths, belonging to the “Oswal Community” formed a “Samiti” with an energetic exuberance to put together a “Vyayamshala” – an indigenous Indian gymnasium, for self-fitness through physical health exercises. But on looking back after more than eight decades, history unfolds the fact that this “Vyayamshala of 1926” was actually a launching pad to spark off series after series of such remarkable feats, which were not only befitting in accordance with the current times and tides but they also undeniably imprinted themselves into the social fabric in bold and colourful sketches. Even with the wash of tides, the ripples carried forward sparkling messages stretching down the time line even after the eight long decades.
Soon the physical regime of the “Vyayamshala” extended into almost zealous and divine aspiration of the Young Members to rise above their limited plan and put on mental gears to break as many shackles as possible and cleanse as much of social garbage as achievable. And thus these fearless Oswal youths marched forward to translate their “Vision” into “Action” for social reforms.
Oswal Navyuwaks naturally had their hands full. They had the monumental task ahead to eradicate the prevalent dominating ills in the society and also bring down the solidified edifice of the Foreign Rulers. And they did both ! Theirs were like termite bites, leaving behind a trail of dust of most of the existing, revolting social ills in their dear Motherland.
To influence and sway, they spoke and they wrote in thunderous volumes. From door to door they collected alms from their Community Members and poured it into the coffers supporting the Independence Movement, even aiding in the forrrOtion of “Azad Hind Fauj” by the Revolutionary Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. In those days to send Rs. 10001/- to Azad Hind Fauj was not at all an easy amount to collect. But nothing could lessen their energy, for soon after, they sent the same amount to Babu Jai Prakash Narayan, to aid his mission for Sampurna Kranti. And this continued on and on.
These Members were known to be in action most of their time and there were regaling incidents on their ways and effects. Once they swooped into a “Shadi Mandap” (arena to conduct wedding rituals) and rescued a little girl-bride about to be betrothed to an aged, ailing & grotty groom. Members taught their own wives to read and write, cajoled and persuaded their Mothers, wives, daughters and daughter-in-laws to set aside their purdah and be more dynamic and progressive.
The Samiti never supported the idea which in its opinion was harmful to the society. In those days a section of orthodox people started a hate campaign against the people who visited foreign countries. They even tried to outlaw such people from the ambit of community. To give boost to their nefarious designs they divided the society into two groups. They became self styled Shree Sangh (the pure) and treated others as Vilayati (the perverse). The member of Samiti with their progressive thinking, felt the undercurrent of this trick and thwarted their dangerous design. The Samiti started felicitating the person who visited abroad. This has sent a loud message and the community was saved of division.
Simultaneously members continued their struggle to realise their dream of free India. Their vigorous actions blew in proportion and many a Members ungrudgingly and unrepentantly went to jail, in defiance of the foreign rulers.

This is a sketchy sequential presentation describing the onward, methodical march of the Oswal Navyuwak Samiti, wherein each target ahead was taken on as project based ventures to effect the desired changes and have to continue to carry forward the work in the Spirit of Truth and Dedicated Commitment to serve the Society and the Nation, for the well-being of one and all.
